Sinks can become blocked for a number of reasons and for the most of it, they are preventable. If you simply follow these easy tips a clogged drain can be avoided.
- The golden rule: NEVER POUR GREASE DOWN THE SINK unless you like seeing me every couple of months its an easy one to avoid. Pour it into a container and dispose of it in your general rubbish.
- Avoid pouring harsh cleaners down the sink. These will eventually erode the hoses and cause leaks and deterioration of them.
- Smelly sink? Try a easy homemade recipe of baking soda and vinegar. Its simple, just mix 2 parts baking soda and 1 part vinegar in a cup and slowly pour down. Its not harsh on your drain and will leave it smelling much better.
- Avoid food scraps heading down the drain. Its best to invest in a plug that allows the water to drain but the leftovers from dinner to be caught. You'd be amazed just how quickly food builds up.
- The Simple Rule: Don't replace pipes or hoses yourself. Too many times have I seen people take DIY to the next level and purchased the wrong hoses or failed to secure them properly. You can only guess what happens next. Just give me a call and ill have them fitted properly and professionally.
